Providing Useful Logistic Processes - this is the performance promise of our new web application for logistics, which we have developed together with our customer as a tool for warehouse management.
It is based on the necessity to check the quality of incoming and outgoing goods in the warehouse without delay and to conserve resources. The web portal, accessible to everyone involved in the project, from the manufacturer to the logistician to the end customer, fires up the process of storage and retrieval. The portal is always extended via adjacent workflows.

The development closes a gap in the market for logistics software: Software manufacturers for special logistics programs largely offer self-contained systems from standard applications that are tailored to their main system. Their complexity prevents new workflows from being set up as quickly as the agile industry requires. Customers have been calling for a solution that is scalable and expandable from the ground up.
PULP starts to document complete transport routes of goods and to offer the team a web-based permanent overview of the condition and location of the delivery. Actors upload documents such as delivery notes and forecasts via the platform or send them to the tool via e-mail. Alternatively, PULP collects the relevant documents from the partner's FTP server and returns delivery notes and stock lists via the same route. Data exchange can also be automated via an interface to the customer or supplier system.

In the IT structures of a logistics company, the portal-based solution appears as a leading and manufacturer-independent system. This means that connected systems such as supply chain or transport management are oriented to the information status of PULP and not vice versa. The structure of the application is so flexible and self-sufficient that programs and systems from different software vendors can dock with each other without any effort, or they can be exchanged at will depending on the project and customer. At the start of the project, the workflow is defined once and the file format is discussed.

The following example illustrates the added value of PULP: A company X orders goods from a manufacturer. The manufacturer commissions a logistics company to transport the goods from A to B, for example by ship. The manufacturer provides the logistics provider with a forecast in the form of Excel tables in PULP so that the logistics provider knows what to expect. All paper rolls are equipped with barcodes or RFID technology.

In the port, the storing company receives transparency about the stocks - i.e. the goods on the ship - via access to the platform. In the warehouse at the port of destination, employees print out the parts lists using printers connected to PULP. The hybrid of scanner and industrial tablet Kutzner Scanlet Logistic Solution is used for long-range scanning of barcodes on goods.

Finally, the warehouse employees hand over the printed lists to the truck driver, who delivers the goods to the end customer.
