Goods receipt without systematic recording – a huge challenge for one of our customers, a leading automation technology manufacturer. In day-to-day operations, this led to difficult monitoring of incoming deliveries and almost impossible checks for completeness of goods. There was a lack of both traceable documentation and the ability to quickly identify and evaluate potential sources of error, such as transport damage or problems during acceptance.

Primary goals: Process optimization and increased transparency in goods receipt

The main goal of the project was to significantly improve processes in the goods receipt department. To achieve this, the recording and management of incoming goods deliveries were to be standardized and consistent documentation was to be introduced. Particularly important: to be able to immediately document damaged deliveries and identify higher-priority deliveries early on to enable preferential handling. Ultimately, the goal was to increase the transparency of internal processes – from goods receipt to handover to the final recipient – ​​and boost efficiency.

Implementation: Customized software solution for scanners and web interface

In order to meet the customer's requirements, close collaboration was particularly important to us during this project. The result: intuitive software that is available both on mobile scanners and via a web interface, enabling the capture and processing of all relevant data directly upon receipt of goods. Automatic database capture and real-time updates keep inventory levels up-to-date and transparent, which greatly simplifies delivery processes in particular. Damage documentation is now systematically handled via the mobile solution, enabling all employees in the receiving department to create detailed image and text records. At the same time, a priority system was introduced that allows certain deliveries to be prioritized by color coding and workflows to be prioritized accordingly.

Special Success Factors

A complete success thanks to excellent communication. From the very beginning, we were able to involve our client in goals, milestones, and even tricky phases of the project, and we were able to implement adjustments promptly thanks to an open feedback process. This continuous and agile collaboration enabled us to develop software precisely tailored to the client's specific needs. Following successful implementation and positive feedback from the receiving department, the client plans to roll out the solution to additional stores.
